Magazine Salesman Accused Of Raping Fruitland Park Woman January 16, 1993 A door-to-door magazine salesman from Texas was arrested Friday on a charge that he raped a woman after she let him into her home.
John Anthony Hagen, 24, of Spring, Texas, was booked early Friday on a charge of sexual battery and was being held in lieu of $5,000 bond, Fruitland Park police said.
The victim, a Fruitland Park woman, told police that Hagen went to her house on Thursday and represented himself as a salesman with TKO Sales of Spring, Texas, authorities said.
The woman told authorities that once inside, he forced her onto the couch and raped her. Then he ran out the door, police said.
The victim reported the rape to police and contacted the Lake-Sumter Rape Crisis Center. She also was treated at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, police said.
After Hagen was arrested, the salesman admitted having sex with the victim, but said it was only after they both consented, police said.

Man charged with sexual abuse
Charleston police say they discovered a Clendenin man was a convicted sex offender after he allegedly sexually abused a Charleston woman.
John Anthony Hagen, 40, of Elkview Road is being held at South Central Regional Jail.
Hagen befriended the female victim Thursday by asking to use the restroom in her Brooks Street apartment, Patrolman J.E. Noland wrote in a complaint filed in Kanawha Magistrate Court.
The woman allowed Hagen in the apartment and he then began making sexual advances toward her, the complaint said.
Hagen told the woman she had a nice body and began lifting up her shirt to expose her breasts, the complaint said. The man then grabbed the woman's left breast and kissed it, according to the complaint.
Police said Hagen failed to get the woman's consent and forcibly made sexual contact with her.
Hagen was convicted in 1993 of sexual battery in Florida, according to the complaint. He entered West Virginia without registering his status as a sex offender and is employed at Tidewater Grill restaurant, the complaint said.
He has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse and failure to register as a sex offender, both felonies.
